As Republic Day 2025 approaches, the Delhi Police has rolled out an extensive traffic advisory to ensure smooth movement across the capital. The celebrations, set for Sunday, January 26, will see significant road restrictions starting from the evening of Saturday, January 25, at 9:00 PM.

Republic Day Road Closures and Diversions

From 9:00 PM on Saturday, entry into Delhi at its borders will be tightly controlled, with only essential vehicles allowed passage until the parade ends. The parade route, stretching from Vijay Chowk to the Red Fort, will see several diversions. Notably, C-Hexagon will be off-limits to traffic after 9:15 PM on Saturday. Commuters should avoid this area to bypass potential delays.

Republic Day Parade Route Details:

The parade kicks off at 10:30 AM on Sunday, traversing through Kartavya Path, C-Hexagon, Tilak Marg, and Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg before concluding at the Red Fort. Kartavya Path will be completely closed to vehicular traffic from 5:00 PM on Saturday until the parade wraps up.

Traffic Restrictions:

Cross traffic on major arteries like Rafi Marg, Janpath, and Man Singh Road will be restricted from 10:00 PM Saturday. C-Hexagon will see no traffic between 9:15 AM and the parade’s progression along Tilak Marg on Sunday. Moreover, from 10:30 AM, no vehicular movement will be permitted on Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, and Subhash Marg, with managed exceptions for cross traffic based on parade movement.

Travel Tips for Commuters:

  • Avoid the Parade Route: Between 9:30 AM and 1:00 PM on Sunday, steer clear of the parade route to avoid congestion.
  • Extra Travel Time: If you’re traveling to New Delhi or Old Delhi Railway Station from North Delhi, allocate additional time for your journey.

Public Transport Considerations:

Metro services will run as usual, providing a reliable alternative for those looking to bypass road traffic. This year, the focus is on ensuring commuters face minimal disruption while celebrating this national event.

Remember, planning ahead is key. Check the Delhi Police’s official communications for any last-minute updates or changes to the advisory. Enjoy the celebrations, but do so with your travel plans in mind to make the most of this historic day.
