Tejashwi's Big Poll Sop: Double Allowance, Rs 50 Lakh Insurance For Bihar Panchayat Heads

With the Bihar Assembly elections just around the corner, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav has made a significant poll promise aimed at wooing grassroots leaders across the state. On behalf of the opposition’s INDIA bloc, Yadav announced that if voted to power, his government would double the allowances for all representatives of Bihar’s Panchayati Raj system.

In a move clearly designed to strengthen support at the village level, the bloc has also pledged to introduce a pension scheme and a substantial Rs 50 lakh insurance cover for all Panchayat representatives. This package of promises underscores a strategic focus on empowering local governance and recognising the role of village-level leaders in the state’s administration.

While unveiling the promises, Tejashwi Yadav also launched a scathing attack on the ruling NDA government, branding it “visionless” and “corrupt.” He accused the current administration of financial mismanagement and regional bias. “The campaigning has started and Bihar is waiting eagerly for a change. The people are tired of the current visionless, corrupt government. In the Budget also, they have spent the money of Bihar in Gujarat,” Yadav stated at a press event. The battle for Bihar will be decided in two phases, with voting scheduled for November 6 and November 11. The counting of votes and the announcement of the results will take place on November 14.
