Tragic Explosion at Bhandara Ordnance Factory: 1 Dead, Several Trapped
In a tragic event, an explosion rocked an ordnance factory in Bhandara, Maharashtra, near Nagpur, claiming at least one life and leaving several workers feared dead or trapped. The incident occurred around 11 am on Friday, with the blast being so intense that it was audible from 5 kilometers away.
According to officials, the explosion led to the collapse of a roof where at least 12 individuals were present. Rescue operations are in full swing with medical and rescue teams on-site, working diligently to find survivors. Two workers have already been rescued, but the use of an excavator is necessary to remove the debris and continue the search for others.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis took to X (formerly Twitter) to update on the situation, stating, “The District Collector and Superintendent of Police are at the scene and all kinds of assistance are being provided.” He confirmed the involvement of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Nagpur Municipal Corporation teams in the rescue efforts, highlighting the coordination with defense forces for a comprehensive response.

CM Fadnavis also shared his condolences, lamenting the loss of one worker in the incident, “According to the preliminary information received so far, unfortunately one worker has died in this incident.
