Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar Admitted to AIIMS After Chest Pain

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar was rushed to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi early Sunday after reporting chest pain and uneasiness, according to PTI. The 73-year-old was admitted to the Critical Care Unit (CCU) around 2 am. He remains stable and is under close medical supervision.

Dhankhar experienced discomfort in the early hours of March 9, 2025, prompting his immediate transfer to AIIMS. Sources confirm he reached the hospital around 2 am. The swift response ensured timely medical attention for the Vice President.

He was placed in the CCU under the supervision of Dr. Rajiv Narang, Head of the Cardiology Department at AIIMS. A dedicated team of doctors is monitoring his condition. Initial reports indicate no immediate cause for alarm.

A source close to the situation stated, “The Vice President is stable and under observation.” The medical team continues to assess his health closely. No further details on his condition have been released yet.

The Vice President’s office has not issued an official statement regarding the incident. Union Health Minister JP Nadda visited AIIMS on Sunday morning to inquire about Dhankhar’s health, as per reports. His visit underscores the significance of the situation.

Jagdeep Dhankhar, sworn in as India’s Vice President in August 2022, also serves as the ex-officio Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. Before this, he was the Governor of West Bengal from 2019 to 2022. The 73-year-old has a long career in law and politics.

Doctors at AIIMS are expected to provide an update on Dhankhar’s health later today or as his condition evolves. Authorities may also release a statement clarifying the cause of his chest pain. For now, the nation awaits further news on his recovery.
