Delhi Assembly Election 2025 : AAP’s 4th List Out
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has released its fourth and final list of candidates for the 2025 Delhi Assembly Election. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is set to contest from the New Delhi constituency, while his deputy, Atishi, will fight from Kalkaji. This strategic lineup reflects AAP’s confidence in retaining its political stronghold.
Key Candidates and Constituencies
The list, featuring 38 candidates, highlights prominent leaders like Saurabh Bharadwaj (Greater Kailash), Gopal Rai (Babarpur), Satyendra Kumar Jain (Shakur Basti), and Durgesh Pathak (Rajinder Nagar). Other notable contenders include Imran Hussain (Ballimaran) and Sanjeev Jha (Burari).
In a competitive move, BJP is expected to field Parvesh Sahib Singh, son of former Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma, from the New Delhi seat. Meanwhile, Congress has announced Sandeep Dikshit, son of late CM Sheila Dikshit, as its candidate. These rivalries set the stage for a high-stakes election.
Kejriwal’s Promises and Strategy
Arvind Kejriwal has ruled out alliances with Congress, stating AAP will contest independently. His campaign focuses on five key guarantees for auto drivers, including a ₹1 lakh marriage grant for daughters and ₹10 lakh life insurance. Additionally, he promised festive allowances and warned voters against BJP’s governance, emphasizing free electricity under AAP’s rule.
Context and Challenges
The upcoming Delhi assembly election follows a successful alliance between AAP and Congress in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. However, both parties now compete independently, raising speculation about the INDIA bloc’s unity. Kejriwal’s governance record and his party’s “10 years of misrule” have become central themes of BJP’s campaign rhetoric.
With the elections scheduled for February 2025, Delhi’s political landscape is gearing up for a dynamic contest.
