Delhi Elections 2025: Arvind Kejriwal Files Nomination From New Delhi Seat

The political landscape in Delhi is heating up as Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal officially filed his nomination from the New Delhi constituency for the Delhi Elections scheduled on February 5, 2025. Kejriwal, accompanied by his wife and close aides, visited the Valmiki and Hanuman temples before filing his nomination papers, seeking blessings for the upcoming electoral battle.
Kejriwal Message to Delhi Voters
After filing his nomination, Kejriwal expressed gratitude to Delhi’s citizens in a heartfelt post on X, stating, “The love and blessings given by the people of Delhi in the last 10 years have inspired me to work with full dedication. I trust the people of Delhi will once again choose the politics of work.” Earlier, he had called upon supporters to accompany him for blessings at temples, emphasizing the importance of their faith in his leadership.
The New Delhi constituency, a significant battleground, will see Kejriwal face strong contenders, including BJP’s Parvesh Verma and Congress’s Sandeep Dixit. With AAP’s landslide victory in the 2020 elections, where they secured 62 out of 70 seats, Kejriwal aims to maintain his dominance, while the BJP and Congress strategize to make a comeback.

The 2025 Delhi Assembly elections will be held in a single phase on February 5, with results announced on February 8. The filing of nominations closes on January 17, followed by scrutiny on January 18, and the final date for withdrawal of candidature is January 20.
Both AAP and BJP have been aggressively campaigning. AAP has declared candidates for all 70 seats, while BJP has announced candidates for 59 constituencies. Congress, struggling to regain its foothold in Delhi after consecutive losses, has yet to reveal its full list of candidates.
The campaign trail has been marked by sharp exchanges between AAP and its rivals. Kejriwal has accused the BJP and Congress of a covert alliance, calling it a “jugalbandi.” BJP leaders have hit back, challenging AAP’s ability to retain its dominance, particularly in the New Delhi seat.
As the election date nears, Delhi’s political atmosphere is charged with anticipation. Kejriwal’s nomination from the New Delhi constituency underscores his confidence in AAP’s governance model. Whether AAP retains its grip on Delhi or faces a shift in voter sentiment remains to be seen
