Jio Deals with SpaceX to Bring Starlink Internet to India
Jio Platforms Limited (JPL) has inked a deal with SpaceX to introduce Starlink’s high-speed broadband internet services across India, subject to regulatory approvals. The partnership aims to bridge the digital divide by delivering reliable internet to underserved regions. Jio will distribute Starlink solutions through its vast retail and online network.
This tie-up unites Jio, the world’s largest mobile operator by data traffic, with Starlink, a leader in low Earth orbit satellite technology. The collaboration focuses on expanding broadband access nationwide. It promises to enhance connectivity, especially in rural and remote areas.
Jio plans to offer Starlink equipment via its retail outlets and online platforms. The company will also provide installation and customer support services. This move aims to ensure seamless adoption of satellite-based internet across India.
Mathew Oommen, Group CEO of Reliance Jio, said, “Ensuring every Indian has access to affordable, high-speed broadband is our top priority.” He added, “This partnership with SpaceX strengthens our commitment to seamless connectivity for all.”

The agreement integrates Starlink with Jio’s existing JioAirFiber and JioFiber services. It aims to extend high-speed internet to challenging locations quickly and affordably. Jio and SpaceX are also exploring further ways to leverage their infrastructure.
The partnership targets enterprises, small businesses, and communities in underserved areas. Starlink’s satellite technology will complement Jio’s offerings, enhancing reliability. This aligns with India’s push for a stronger digital ecosystem.
