X (Twitter) Suffers Second Major Outage in 2 Days; Users Report Widespread Issues
Elon Musk-owned social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, suffered a major outage for the second consecutive day on Saturday evening, leaving thousands of users unable to access timelines, post tweets, or load the website and app.
According to Downdetector, outage reports spiked sharply around 6 pm IST, with users across India and several other countries reporting technical glitches. The issue disrupted user access on both mobile apps and the desktop site, displaying the error message: “Something went wrong. Try reloading.”
The disruption comes just a day after a similar outage on Friday, during which more than half of reported users were unable to log into their accounts. Around 30% faced app malfunctions, and 13% said the website failed to open entirely, according to data from Downdetector.
While no official statement has yet been issued by X’s technical team, the platform’s recurring issues have reignited concerns about stability and cybersecurity under Elon Musk’s leadership.
Social media erupted in frustration, with the hashtag #XDown trending globally. Users took to other platforms like Instagram and Facebook to report issues and seek updates. Some noted that posts wouldn’t refresh, others were stuck with old timelines, and many simply couldn’t access the site.
This marks yet another addition to a string of service disruptions since Musk’s acquisition of Twitter. In March 2025, the billionaire had claimed that X was under a “massive cyberattack.”
“We get attacked every day, but this was done with a lot of resources. Either a large, coordinated group and/or a country is involved. Tracing,” Musk had said in a post after widespread outages hit the platform.
The platform, which rebranded from Twitter to X in 2023, has faced periodic downtimes over the last two years, particularly after Musk’s sweeping restructuring of the company’s engineering and moderation teams.
While the exact cause of the latest outages remains unclear, repeated issues are raising concerns over X’s infrastructure resilience and user experience. Analysts warn that continued instability may drive users and advertisers away to more reliable platforms.
There has been no confirmation of a cyberattack linked to this weekend’s outages, but observers are closely monitoring for updates from Musk or X’s official channels.
