2 Indian Students from Cleveland State University Killed in Car Crash in Pennsylvania
Two Indian students from Cleveland State University were killed in a tragic car crash in Pennsylvania on May 10. The Indian Consulate in New York confirmed the deaths and is assisting the families.
The students, identified as Manav Patel and Saurav Prabhakar, died at the scene after their vehicle crashed into a tree and then struck a bridge. The crash occurred in Pennsylvania, though the students were based in Ohio and studying at Cleveland State University.
According to the Lancaster County coroner’s office, both students succumbed to multiple traumatic injuries. Local authorities confirmed that Prabhakar was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident.
A third person seated in the front passenger seat was injured and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities have not disclosed the identity or current condition of the injured individual.
The Indian Consulate in New York posted on X (formerly Twitter), expressing condolences and offering support to the grieving families.
“Deeply saddened to learn about the unfortunate road accident in which two Indian students from Cleveland State University, Manav Patel and Saurav Prabhakar lost their lives,” the post read.
“The Consulate is in touch with the families and has assured them of all possible assistance.”
Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the cause of the crash. As of now, no foul play is suspected, but further examination of the crash site and vehicle condition is ongoing.
Cleveland State University has not yet released an official statement but is expected to extend support to affected students and the families of the deceased.
The tragic incident adds to a growing list of fatal accidents involving Indian students in the United States. Consular officials and community leaders continue to emphasize the importance of road safety, especially for international students adjusting to new driving conditions.
