Bangladesh Air Force Training Jet Crashes In Dhaka; At Least One Dead

A Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) F-7 BGI training aircraft crashed in a residential area of Dhaka on Monday afternoon, killing, 19 Killed Over 100 Injured according to officials.

The jet went down in the capital’s densely populated Uttara area shortly after takeoff, reportedly crashing onto the roof of a college canteen.

In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) confirmed the crash of the training aircraft. The incident occurred around 1:30 PM local time, roughly 25 minutes after the plane had departed at 1:06 PM, according to local media outlet Prothom Alo.

Lima Khan, a duty officer at the Fire Service control room, confirmed that 19 Killed Over 100 Injured individuals have been rushed to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) for treatment.

Initial reports and images from the scene indicate the aircraft crashed onto the canteen of Milestone College. Three units from the Fire Service and Civil Defence were immediately dispatched and are currently managing the situation at the crash site.

Deputy Commissioner Mohidul Islam of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Uttara Division also confirmed that he was heading to the location to oversee the response. The cause of the crash is not yet known.
