Blast Targets JUI-F Leader at Mosque in Pakistan’s Waziristan, 4 Injured
A blast rocked a mosque in Pakistan’s South Waziristan during Friday prayers, injuring Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Abdullah Nadeem and three others, including two children. Police suspect the explosion was aimed at Nadeem, who is now in serious condition.
The incident occurred at the Maulana Abdul Aziz Mosque in the Waziristan region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The blast struck as worshippers gathered, leaving four injured, including Nadeem and two children. Thick smoke and chaos engulfed the scene as emergency services rushed to assist the victims.
South Waziristan’s district police chief confirmed the explosion appeared to target Abdullah Nadeem, a prominent JUI-F leader. Nadeem was hospitalized, with local media reporting his condition as critical. Authorities have yet to identify the perpetrators behind the attack near Pakistan’s Afghan border.

This blast follows a deadly suicide bombing last month at the Darul Uloom Haqqania seminary in Nowshera. That attack killed JUI-S leader Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani and five others, injuring 15. It also comes days after a Balochistan train hijacking by separatist militants, ending in a bloody standoff.
Pakistan has accused Afghanistan of sheltering militants involved in recent attacks, including the Balochistan incident. The Afghan Taliban has denied these claims, rejecting any role in cross-border militancy. The government has vowed to intensify its crackdown on rising violence in the region.
Investigations are underway to determine the cause and culprits of the Waziristan mosque blast. Authorities are expected to release updates on Nadeem’s condition and any leads on those responsible. Pakistan’s security measures may tighten as militancy continues to challenge stability.
