Blasts Heard Lahore Day After India's Operation Sindoor Targets Terror Camps

Multiple explosions were reported in Lahore’s Gopal Nagar and Naseerabad areas on Thursday, triggering panic among residents a day after India launched Operation Sindoor.

Loud explosions echoed across parts of Lahore, Pakistan, late Thursday evening, prompting sirens and panic among residents. According to local media and Reuters, the blasts were heard near Walton Airport, in the Gopal Nagar and Naseerabad localities.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing smoke clouds and people rushing out of homes amid confusion. “It felt like the ground shook. Everyone in my building ran outside,” a local resident told Dawn News.

Police sources said a drone, believed to be 5–6 feet in size, may have caused the blasts. The drone was allegedly intercepted and disabled via jamming technology. No injuries or structural damage have been reported so far.

Security sources suggested the explosion could be linked to an aerial object, raising speculation about a drone incursion. “Initial findings point to a small drone being shot down,” a Lahore police official said on condition of anonymity.

The area where the blasts were heard lies close to Lahore’s posh Central Business District and the heavily fortified army cantonment zone, further intensifying security concerns.

The incident occurred just 24 hours after India carried out high-precision airstrikes on terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir under ‘Operation Sindoor’. The cross-border operation targeted infrastructure of terror outfits like Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba.

Operation Sindoor was launched in retaliation to the deadly Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people in Jammu and Kashmir last week.

As of now Pakistani military and government officials had not issued any formal statement regarding the blasts or drone activity. Intelligence agencies are reportedly investigating the nature and origin of the explosion.
