Cindy Rodriguez Singh, a Texas woman on the FBI's Top 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list for allegedly murdering her six-year-old son, has been arrested in India following a coordinated international operation, FBI Director Kash Patel announced on Thursday. The arrest marks the culmination of a year-and-a-half-long manhunt that began after Singh fled the United States in March 2023.

In a statement posted on X, Director Patel confirmed the arrest, stating, “FBI has arrested another Top 10 Most Wanted Fugitive: Cindy Rodriguez Singh. Singh is wanted on state charges of killing her six-year-old son." The operation was a collaborative effort between the FBI, Indian authorities, and INTERPOL. Singh has since been transported back to the United States and will be handed over to Texas authorities to face charges of Capital Murder of a person under 10 years of age and Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution.

The case dates back to March 2023, when authorities in Everman, Texas, conducted a welfare search for Singh's son, Noel Alvarez, who had not been seen since October 2022. According to the FBI, Singh allegedly lied to investigators about her son's whereabouts and then, just two days later, boarded a flight to India. A state arrest warrant for capital murder was issued for her in Tarrant County, Texas, in October 2023, followed by a federal arrest warrant for unlawful flight in November.

Director Patel lauded the joint efforts of American and Indian law enforcement agencies that led to her capture. The successful apprehension brings an end to a high-profile international fugitive case and begins the process of seeking justice for the death of her young son.
