Four Escape with Minor Injuries as Plane Crashes, Catches Fire at Montana Airport; Horrific Video Surfaces
A small aircraft carrying four people crashed and burst into flames at Kalispell City Airport in Montana on Monday afternoon, prompting a major emergency response. Horrific video from the scene showed plumes of black smoke and fire erupting from the wreckage on the tarmac. Miraculously, all four individuals on board—the pilot and three passengers—escaped with only minor injuries.
The incident occurred at 2:08 pm local time as the aircraft was approaching the airport. According to Flathead County Sheriff Brian Heino, a distress call triggered an immediate response from emergency crews.
The plane caught fire on impact, with the blaze spreading to a nearby grassy area before being contained by firefighters. Kalispell Fire Department Chief Jay Hagen confirmed that the four occupants were rescued and received on-site medical treatment for their minor injuries.
Preliminary reports suggest a possible cause for the crash, with authorities investigating whether the aircraft collided with another plane on the taxiway or experienced mechanical issues during its approach. U.S. Representative Ryan Zinke, whose staff was at the scene, confirmed the fortunate outcome.
“From what we understand, no one was injured, praise God. We will be assisting local authorities and the airport in any way we can as they handle this unfortunate accident,” he said in a statement.
Kalispell City Airport was temporarily closed as a safety precaution while emergency personnel secured the crash site. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has taken over the investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. Details about the types of aircraft involved have not yet been released.
