G7 Summit: Trump Departs Early, Urges Evacuation of Tehran Amid Iran-Israel Crisis

US President Donald Trump to abruptly left the G7 summit in Canada late Monday, citing the intensifying Israel-Iran conflict as “obvious reasons” for his departure. He also urged the immediate evacuation of Tehran residents, claiming Iran should have signed a nuclear deal with the US.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed on X that Trump would exit the summit after dinner “because of what’s going on in the Middle East.”   Trump later posted on Truth Social: “IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!”

Trump also chose not to sign the G7 draft statement endorsing de-escalation between Israel and Iran. Instead, he renewed his push for a nuclear deal, asserting that the United States is primarily a defensive force, with no offensive role in the strikes.

French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed Trump’s ceasefire proposal, calling the move “positive” and highlighting the US president’s intention to pursue diplomatic engagement.

Tensions surrounded the summit’s attempt to finalize joint communiques, with Trump also supporting Russian leader Putin’s inclusion and negotiating tariff reductions with Canada and the UK. His absence leaves uncertainty over whether the G7 will issue any unified statements regarding Ukraine or Middle East stability.

As Trump requested the National Security Council to prepare for his early return, global attention turns to what comes next in both Washington’s and the G7’s handling of the escalating Israel-Iran war.
