Iranian Missile Strikes Major Israeli Hospital, Thick Smoke Engulfs Soroka Medical Center

A ballistic missile launched from Iran struck the main compound of Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba early Thursday, marking a dramatic escalation in the Israel–Iran conflict. Videos shared on social media show panicked patients and staff fleeing corridors filled with dust and debris as thick smoke billowed from the building.

The missile hit part of Israel’s largest hospital in the south, causing extensive structural damage. A Soroka spokesperson confirmed, “We are currently assessing the damage, including injuries,” and urged the public to avoid the site.

This strike was part of a larger Iranian strike targeting multiple cities across Israel, including Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan, and Holon. Sirens blared nationwide as dozens of missiles were launched; in Holon, at least one person was critically wounded and nearly two dozen others sustained minor injuries.

Israel Defense Forces detected approximately 20 ballistic missiles fired from Iran before dawn. The IDF confirmed that Iran targeted civilian infrastructure in multiple southern and central cities.

This comes amid intensifying offensive operations. Israel struck Iran’s Arak heavy water reactor as part of Operation Rising Lion, with Iranian state media reporting zero radiation risk following evacuation.

Casualty figures remain unclear, with hospital officials assessing the extent of injuries at Soroka. Emergency services reported treating dozens of people across impact zones.

The attack marks one of the most significant breaches of civilian infrastructure in the weeks‑long conflict, drawing urgent international concern. Global leaders continue to call for restraint even as the exchanges grow deadlier.

Israel’s Iron Dome intercepted multiple missiles, but warnings were sounded across Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Emergency shelters were activated across urban centres.
