Israel Strikes 6 Iranian Military Airports, Destroys 15 Warplanes, Says IDF

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Monday that it had conducted a major military operation, striking six military airports in western, eastern, and central Iran and destroying at least 15 fighter jets and helicopters. The pre-dawn raids represent a significant escalation in the rapidly widening conflict between the two regional adversaries.

In a series of statements, the IDF said the operation was aimed at deepening its air superiority over Iran and dismantling the country’s ability to launch attacks against Israeli territory. The strikes reportedly damaged runways and underground facilities, in addition to destroying the aircraft.

The targeted aircraft included American-made F-14 and F-5 fighter jets, as well as AH-1 attack helicopters, which the IDF claimed were being prepared to thwart Israeli air operations. “As part of the effort to deepen air superiority in Iranian skies, the IDF attacked six Iranian regime airports,” an official IDF statement read.

Israeli intelligence allegedly guided the strikes, which also targeted surface-to-surface missile launch and storage sites in the Kermanshah area of western Iran. The IDF asserted that these facilities were housing missiles aimed at Israel. “The IDF continues to intensify its attacks on the Iranian regime’s military capabilities and will continue to work to achieve air superiority in order to maintain the security of the State of Israel,” the statement added.

This large-scale Israeli offensive comes just a day after Iran launched a barrage of missiles towards major Israeli cities, including Tel Aviv and Haifa. Sirens blared across Israel as defense systems worked to intercept the incoming threats.

The Iranian attack was itself a retaliation for US airstrikes on three of Iran’s key nuclear facilities on Sunday. The escalating cycle of attacks has plunged the region into a severe crisis, with international leaders calling for immediate de-escalation. There has been no immediate official comment from Tehran on the latest Israeli strikes.
