‘It’s Ridiculous, Won't Work’: Trump Slams Elon Musk’s ‘America Party’ Plan

US President Donald Trump has ridiculed billionaire Elon Musk’s announcement of a new political outfit, the ‘America Party’, dismissing the move as “ridiculous” and warning that a third party has never succeeded in American politics.

A day after Musk launched his new party on the social media platform X, Trump told reporters, “It’s ridiculous to start a third party. We have tremendous success with the Republican Party… Third parties have never worked, so he can have fun with it, but I think it’s ridiculous.”

The President doubled down on his criticism on his platform, Truth Social, accusing Musk of having “gone completely off the rails.” He wrote, “The one thing Third Parties are good for is the creation of Complete and Total DISRUPTION & CHAOS, and we have enough of that with the Radical Left Democrats.”
The public feud between the two former allies has intensified dramatically in recent weeks. It was initially sparked by Musk’s fierce opposition to Trump’s massive new tax and spending bill, which Musk claims will balloon the national debt.

Trump has hit back by highlighting his administration’s repeal of the federal Electric Vehicle (EV) mandate, a policy that directly impacts Musk’s flagship company, Tesla. “It’s a great bill that eliminates the ridiculous EV mandate which would have forced everyone to buy an electric car,” Trump said.
Musk responded to Trump’s latest volley of criticism with a cryptic post on X, quoting a line from the sci-fi novel Dune: “Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration”.

Other members of the Trump administration have also taken aim at Musk. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, appearing on CNN, urged the billionaire to focus on his companies instead of “political distractions.” Bessent recalled Musk’s controversial and unpopular stint leading a cost-cutting unit called the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), suggesting Musk should stick to business.

The war of words has become increasingly personal, with Trump recently hinting he might “look into” deporting the South Africa-born Musk, who is a naturalized US citizen. This escalating conflict between the US President and one of the world’s most powerful tech moguls marks a new, unpredictable turn in American politics.
