Malaysia Rejects Pakistan's Appeal to Cancel India's Operation Sindoor Outreach Events

Malaysia has firmly rejected Pakistan’s diplomatic pressure to cancel India’s Operation Sindoor outreach programmes, dealing a significant blow to Islamabad’s efforts to isolate New Delhi on the international stage.

Sources revealed to India Today TV that the Pakistani embassy in Malaysia had urged the government to cancel all 10 programmes scheduled by the Indian delegation, invoking religious solidarity and citing the “Kashmir matter in the UN.”

The Pakistani embassy made a direct appeal to Malaysian government officials, saying, “We are an Islamic country, you are an Islamic country… don’t listen to the Indian delegation, cancel all their programmes in Malaysia.”

Despite this pressure, the Malaysian government gave full approval for the nine-member Indian delegation to organize all 10 proposed programmes as scheduled.

The Indian delegation, led by JDU MP Sanjay Jha, comprised prominent political leaders from across party lines including BJP MPs Aparajita Sarangi, Brij Lal, Pradan Baruah, and Hemang Joshi, Trinamool Congress’s Abhishek Banerjee, CPM’s John Brittas, Congress’s Salman Khurshid, and former Indian Ambassador Mohan Kumar.

The delegation landed in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, making Malaysia the final stop in their multi-nation tour that included Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Indonesia.

The Indian delegation met Malaysia’s People’s Justice Party (PKR), led by YB Sim Tze Tzin, a former minister in Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad’s cabinet.

During these meetings, the delegation emphasized India’s “resolute approach” under Operation Sindoor and reiterated the country’s zero-tolerance stance on terrorism.

The Indian representatives briefed Malaysian leaders on Operation Sindoor’s precision strikes targeting terror launchpads in Pakistan, highlighting India’s “new normal” in responding to cross-border terror threats.

While addressing the Indian diaspora in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, Trinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee delivered a firm message, stating that India should only engage in dialogue with Pakistan when it is ready to hand over Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

After returning from the five-nation tour, delegation leader Sanjay Jha told news agency PTI that all countries “expressed their condolences for the victims of the Pahalgam incident” and appreciated “India’s precision strike on the terrorist infrastructure.”

This international backing represents a diplomatic victory for India’s narrative on Operation Sindoor and its anti-terrorism efforts.

Malaysia’s decision to reject Pakistan’s appeal demonstrates the changing dynamics in international diplomacy, where religious solidarity is increasingly taking a backseat to national interests and counter-terrorism cooperation.

The successful completion of all programmes despite Pakistani diplomatic pressure indicates growing international acceptance of India’s security concerns and military responses to terrorism.
