'Triple Sabotage': Trump Demands Probe, Claims UN Mishaps Were Deliberate

US President Donald Trump has alleged he was the victim of “triple sabotage” during his visit to the United Nations, claiming a series of technical glitches, including a stalled escalator and a malfunctioning teleprompter, were deliberate acts designed to undermine him . In a fiery statement on Wednesday, Trump declared the incidents a “real disgrace” and said he has ordered the Secret Service to investigate what he termed “three very sinister events” .

The controversy began on Tuesday when an escalator carrying Trump and First Lady Melania Trump to the main speaking floor came to a sudden halt . “It’s amazing that Melania and I didn’t fall forward onto the sharp edges of these steel steps, face first,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, calling the incident “absolute sabotage” . He pointed to a London Times report that UN workers had previously joked about shutting off an escalator to inconvenience him .

Trump’s outrage grew when his teleprompter went “stone cold dark” as he began his address to the UN General Assembly, forcing him to improvise for about 15 minutes . He also claimed the auditorium’s sound system was malfunctioning, alleging that world leaders, including the First Lady sitting in the front row, could not hear his speech without interpreter earpieces . “This wasn’t a coincidence, this was triple sabotage at the UN,” Trump asserted, demanding an immediate investigation and the preservation of all security tapes .

The United Nations has pushed back on the conspiracy theories. A UN spokesperson said an investigation into the escalator incident revealed that a videographer from the US delegation, who was walking backwards to film the President, may have “inadvertently triggered the safety function” . UN officials also suggested the teleprompter was operated by the White House, not the UN . However, the Trump administration has rejected these explanations, with White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt demanding that anyone who “intentionally stopped the escalator” be “fired and investigated immediately”
