Trump Warns Iran of “Full Strength” U.S. Response if Attacked Amid Escalating Israel-Iran Conflict

US President Donald Trump, via Truth Social on Sunday, issued a stark warning to Iran—“If we are attacked in any way, shape or form by Iran, the full strength and might of the US armed forces will come down on you at levels never seen before.” His statement comes as Israel conducted airstrikes on Iran, including Tehran’s defence ministry, and Iran retaliated with missile attacks on Israel.

Trump emphasized the United States had no role in Israel’s overnight strikes against Iran but asserted his ability to broker a possible peace deal: “We can easily get a deal done between Iran and Israel and end this bloody conflict.” Meanwhile, Iran cancelled a sixth round of nuclear talks with Washington, citing the military escalations.

The weekend violence triggered significant civilian casualties. Israeli missiles demolished a residential tower in Tehran, killing at least 60 people, including 29 children. Iran responded by launching over 200 ballistic missiles and drones targeting Israeli cities. Casualties in Israel include at least seven dead—among them a 10-year-old and a woman in her 20s—and over 140 injured.

In Bat Yam, the coastal city south of Tel Aviv, four people were killed and more than 100 were wounded. In northern Israel’s Galilee region, another attack claimed four lives in an apartment block. Explosions were also heard in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem amid heightened air alert warnings.

Trump’s threat suggests an expanded US role if American assets are attacked, bringing fresh weight to his earlier “maximum pressure” campaign against Iran. Over the past months, his administration reinstated sanctions targeting Iran’s oil industry and threatened military action alongside diplomatic efforts.

Global concern is mounting as regional powers scramble to de-escalate. Despite being temporarily withdrawn, nuclear talks now face fresh hurdles with diplomacy at stake. UN Secretary-General António Guterres and European leaders have called for restraint. Meanwhile, Iran warns any US-linked base involved in intercepting its missiles could be targeted.
