‘Tyranny Of Terror Has To End’: Trump Backs Israel If Hamas Rejects New Gaza Peace Plan
US President Donald Trump on Monday announced a major new peace initiative aimed at ending the war in Gaza, declaring that he was “close” to a deal and that “Israel won’t occupy Gaza”. While hailing the 20-point plan as a “historic day for peace,” Trump issued a stark warning to Hamas, stating that if the group rejects the proposal, Israel would have his “full backing” to eliminate the threat.
“If Hamas rejects the deal, which is always possible… you know, Bibi, you’d have our full backing to do what you would have to do,” Trump said, addressing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a White House press conference. “The ultimate result must be the elimination of any danger posed in the region. And that danger is caused by Hamas. The tyranny of terror has to end”.
Minutes before the address, the White House released the details of the comprehensive 20-point plan, which calls for an immediate ceasefire, the return of all Israeli hostages within 72 hours, the complete demilitarization of Hamas, and the deployment of an international stabilization force.
The proposal also outlines a post-war governance structure for Gaza, to be managed by a temporary, non-political committee of Palestinian and international experts under the supervision of a “Board of Peace” led by Trump himself.Netanyahu, who stood alongside Trump, endorsed the plan, stating it aligns with Israel’s war objectives and could pave the way for broader peace in the Middle East. However, he echoed Trump’s warning, affirming that if Hamas rejects the proposal, Israel would “proceed to complete the mission independently”.
While the Palestinian Authority and several Arab and Islamic nations have welcomed the initiative, Hamas has stated it is reviewing the plan “in good faith,” leaving the fate of the high-stakes diplomatic effort hanging in the balance .
