US Will Not Mediate in India-Pakistan Conflict, Says VP JD Vance

US Vice President JD Vance has stated that America will not intervene in the ongoing India-Pakistan conflict, calling it a regional matter that is “none of our business.”

In a firm statement, US Vice President JD Vance on Thursday clarified that the United States will not directly involve itself in the escalating military conflict between India and Pakistan. He underscored that Washington sees the dispute as a regional matter and will pursue only diplomatic engagement.

“What we can do is try to encourage these folks to de-escalate,” Vance said in an interview with Fox News, “but we’re not going to get involved in the middle of war that’s fundamentally none of our business.”

Vance emphasized that neither side can be compelled into a ceasefire by the US. “America can’t tell the Indians to lay down their arms. We can’t tell the Pakistanis to lay down their arms,” he added.

Despite ruling out direct involvement, Vance said the US would continue to support peace through diplomatic channels. “Our hope and our expectation is that this is not going to spiral into a broader regional war or, God forbid, a nuclear conflict,” he said.

The comments came hours after Pakistan launched a coordinated attack using drones, missiles, and artillery against Indian civilian and military targets. India has responded forcefully, downing Pakistani fighter jets and neutralising a key AWACS aircraft.

Former US President Donald Trump also weighed in, expressing hope for an immediate end to the conflict. “It’s a shame… I want to see them work it out. I want to see them stop,” Trump said. He added that if he could help mediate, he would be willing.

Trump acknowledged the deep-rooted historical tensions between the two nations but insisted that both sides have much to gain from restraint. “They’ve been fighting for many, many decades and centuries, actually, if you really think about it,” he said.

India recently launched “Operation Sindoor,” targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians. The strikes provoked a sharp response from Pakistan, which has since resorted to drone and missile strikes targeting key Indian military locations.

The Indian military has maintained a high level of readiness and continues to monitor the situation along the western front.
